Vivo X Fold foldable smartphone has two 120Hz screens, two fingerprint scanners and four cameras

Today, April 11, after weeks of continuous leaks, Vivo officially unveiled its first foldable smartphone. Referred to as the Vivo X Fold, the flagship has a familiar design inspired by the latest models in the range and has the best hardware as of the first half of 2022. The Chinese novelty will compete with popular analogues, namely Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Huawei Mate X2 and Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold.

Vivo X Fold is equipped with two OLED screens with an increased refresh rate of 120 Hz and Full HD + resolution. The outer diagonal is 6.53 inches, the inner one folds out into a 8.03-inch panel with an aspect ratio of 4:3.55 and is made using LTPO technology, supporting adaptive scanning up to 1 Hz. The flexible display is protected by Samsung’s ultra-thin Schott UTG glass. Vivo claims it can withstand up to 300,000 openings, which is the equivalent of folding and unfolding 80 times a day for 10 years.

The hinge allows Vivo X Fold to close completely flat, leaving no gap between the halves of the case, and remain in a fixed position at an angle of 60 to 120 degrees. For example, the smartphone will be convenient to use in scenarios such as video calls, using the camera without a tripod, and watching video content. Another notable feature is two built-in ultrasonic fingerprint scanners, one for each screen. This is a noticeable difference from the rest of the segment, as they usually have a side sensor located in the power button.
