The ABC Metalworkers Union announced this Friday (10) that 3,000 Volkswagen employees, from the São Bernardo do Campo plant, in Greater São Paulo, will go on collective vacation due to the lack of parts that has affected industrial production. .
The union said workers have been told they will be on vacation for ten days from June 27 to July 7.
Volkswagen informed the CNN Brasil Business that “the tool for collective vacations for workers at the factory in São Bernardo was protocolled, as a matter of course, but that the vacation can only be confirmed when the date approaches, because until then there may be changes”.
Volkswagen had already put 2,500 workers on collective vacation this year because of problems in the components supply chain. They stayed out of the factory from 9th to 28th of May.
They are practically the same employees who went on vacation this time, with an additional 500 that they had not taken last month, according to the ABC Metalworkers Union. Volkswagen has around 8,200 workers, 4,500 of which are in production.
According to José Roberto Nogueira da Silva, general coordinator of representation at Volkswagen, the agreement in force at the automaker, negotiated between the ABC Metalworkers Union and the company, guarantees predictability to employees in relation to their jobs.
“It is very important, at this moment, to have a long-term agreement that foresees situations like this that have been going on for a long time. The agreement gives predictability for workers to organize and also for the company to think about the future of the plant,” he said.
