European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen posted on Twitter about her meeting today, in Sofia, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“I thank Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the short and constructive discussion today in Sofia on energy, relations with Turkey, the visit of Vice President Viera Jourova to Athens”, says the President of the European Commission about the meeting she had with the Prime Minister in margin of the ceremony for the start of the commercial operation of the interconnector Greece Bulgaria (IGB) pipeline. “Together,” he adds, “we will work to reduce high energy prices. I look forward to discussing this with you and other leaders in Prague #EUCO.”
Meanwhile, the president of the Commission also had a joint meeting with the presidents of Bulgaria and North Macedonia, Rumen Radev and Stevo Pentarovski, respectively.
In a tweet about the meeting, Ursula von der Leyen says: “I welcome the positive dynamics between Bulgaria and North Macedonia. It led to the opening of the process of accession negotiations for North Macedonia. Now it can also lead to a good cooperation in all areas for the benefit of the people (in the two countries), for example in the field of energy.”
