The agreement with Germany to deliver to the Slovak armed forces Leopard 2A4s intended for them remains in force, Mr. Nant emphasized to the TASR news agency.
Under the deal, one such heavy tank was delivered to Slovakia by then-Defence Minister Kristine Lambrecht, while 14 more are expected to be delivered by the end of 2023.
This agreement was part of the system implemented by the German government to deliver weapons to Ukraine indirectly, from allies, which it christened circular exchange.
Thus, the German Leopards will replace the 30 BMP-1 that Slovakia has already delivered to Ukraine.
To help Kyiv, Slovakia is willing to send it Soviet-designed T-72 tanks, but they will also need to be replaced, Mr. Nand added.
