War in Ukraine: The 4 conditions set by the Kremlin to stop hostilities

Four conditions were set by Vladimir Putin in order to immediately stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The representative of the Kremlin Dmitry Peshkovtold Reuters a while ago that Russia is ready to immediately stop the “military operation” in its territories if Kyiv accepts its terms.

Who are they:

Russia urges Ukraine to immediately suspend military action, change its constitution to include neutrality, recognize Crimea as Russian territory, and recognize the “Donetsk and Luhansk Autonomous Republics” as independent territories.

It is recalled that on 4pm is scheduled to start in Belarus the negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.

Peshkov told Reuters that Moscow had told Kyiv it was ready to suspend military action “immediately” if Kyiv met those conditions.

It was the clearest Russian statement so far on the terms it wants to impose on Ukraine to stop what it calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine, which is in its 12th day.

Peshkov said Ukraine knows the terms. “And they were told that all this could stop in an instant.”

On the issue of neutrality, he said: “They should make changes to the constitution according to which Ukraine would reject any goal of joining any bloc. “This is possible only with changes in the Constitution.”

The Kremlin spokesman insisted that Russia was not seeking further territorial claims on Ukraine.

“We are really completing the demilitarization of Ukraine. We will complete it. But the main thing is for Ukraine to suspend its military action. “They will have to stop their military action and then no one will shoot,” he said.

“They will have to make amendments to their Constitution according to which Ukraine will absorb any goal of joining any bloc. We have also talked about how they should recognize that Crimea is Russian territory and that they should recognize that Donetsk and Luhansk are independent states. And that’s all. “It will stop in a moment,” Peshkov told Reuters.

The description of Russia’s demands came as delegations from Russia and Ukraine were preparing to meet on Monday for a third round of talks aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, an invasion that began on February 24 and has provoked the worst crisis in Europe since World War Two and caused outrage around the world.
