“We are going to try to anticipate doses”, Queiroga tells CNN about childhood vaccine

The Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, told the CNN, this Thursday (13), which asked Pfizer to send more doses of the coronavirus vaccine to children in advance. “Let’s try to anticipate doses. It depends on Pfizer”, replied the minister.

This week, the government announced that it will receive 600,000 early doses, which totals, so far, 4 million pediatric vaccines in January. This number, however, is insufficient to guarantee good coverage of the first dose of the vaccine before the start of the return to school.

Queiroga will be in São Paulo at the Vaccine Distribution Center, in Guarulhos, to receive the first shipment of children’s doses from Pfizer. Such as CNN anticipated, the immunizers arrived in the early hours of this Thursday, around 4:30 am.

Also this Thursday, the government plans to ask the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) to release the use of self-tests, that is, home tests to detect coronavirus. “The technical area takes care of that,” he said.

AT CNN, the minister stressed that, for the government, the most important thing is to evolve with the vaccination of adults. “The most important thing is to extend the second dose and booster dose. There are many states with vaccine stocks. That’s the priority,” he said.
