A statement by a city councilor of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s Adelfia party of Italy has caused a shock in Italy. Giuseppe Marasco, an elected councilor in the municipality of Manfredonia, in the Bari region, can be heard clearly saying: “we are used to crematoriums” in a recording posted on the website of La Repubblica newspaper. This statement was made during a pre-election event in the presence, according to the Italian newspaper, of deputies and senators. It is supposed to be an intervention that was made after a previous statement, in which reference was made to the heat prevailing in the room. Many of the attendees can be heard laughing on the recording. Marasco supports the mayoral candidate Hugo Galli and wants to be deputy mayor. The second round of municipal elections in Manfredonia will take place next Sunday and so far his shocking statement has not been commented on by leaders of the Brothers of Italy. Source: RES
