Lebanon’s Hezbollah said today it had launched a “barrage of rockets” at Haifa, two days after the group’s drone killed four soldiers at an army base in the southern part of the large northern Israeli city. Sunday’s attack was the deadliest the pro-Iranian movement has unleashed on Israeli soil in nearly a month of military escalation. The militant Islamist group says it is now engaged in “close fighting” with Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon. Israel, for its part, stepped up its aerial bombardment of Lebanon.
