Some Brazilian regions are expected to face extreme weather this Friday (20). The forecast is that the South region will experience rain and storms, São Paulo will reach alarming levels of relative humidity and Rio de Janeiro will experience extreme heat.

According to monitoring by the Climatempo Meteorology Institute, a new cold front coming from Argentina is expected to reach the south of the country, causing frequent rains between the extreme north of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.

The region is on alert with high potential for storms, especially in Greater Porto Alegre, which is expected to record the phenomenon between dawn and early morning this Friday (20).

In the Greater São Paulo region, there should be heat and low humidity, with levels below 30%, in the afternoon, with a chance of isolated rain showers during the night.

The forecast is for increased humidity and a risk of heavy rain from the afternoon in the Ribeira Valley, the southern coast of São Paulo and the far west of the state of SP. Rio de Janeiro is expected to experience heat and wind, with stronger gusts in the Lakes Region.

According to the forecast, due to the humid winds blowing from the sea, there should be light to moderate rain in the early morning and morning, in the region of Greater Vitória (ES). Localized showers of rain throughout the day can be recorded in the west and south of AM, in AC, in the north-central part of RO and in the north of RR.

Southeast Region

The forecast for this Friday (20) is for rain to advance over the southern corridor of SP from the afternoon onwards, which runs through areas of the Presidente Prudente, Ourinhos and Itapetininga region.

There should also be conditions for isolated showers in areas of the Ribeira Valley and the southern coast of São Paulo. In other regions of the interior of São Paulo and in Minas Gerais, the forecast is for stable weather and significantly rising temperatures throughout the day.

According to Climatempo, the tendency is for the sensation of intense heat to predominate in a large part of the region, which should record relative humidity levels at critical levels.

In Greater SP, the day tends to be marked by a significant increase in temperatures and humidity levels should return to values between 21% and 30%, in terms of attention to dry weather conditions. At the end of the day and beginning of the night, there is a possibility of isolated showers.

The forecast for the Rio de Janeiro is sunny and very hot. Stronger wind gusts may be recorded in the Lakes Region and the circulation of maritime winds continues to stimulate the formation of rain clouds over the coast of ES, including Greater Vitória.

Southern Region

A new cold front that originated between Argentina and Uruguay is expected to reach the south of the country this Friday (20). The instabilities are expected to reach Rio Grande do Sul early in the day, concentrating rain across the center and south of the state between dawn and morning.

According to Climatempo, there is a chance of storms in Greater Porto Alegre (RS) during the early hours of the morning. Over the next few hours, the system should move, distributing the rain to areas of Santa Catarina and Paraná.

The rain may intensify in some periods, in the central and southern strip of RS. In addition, it may rain for most of the day in areas of the extreme north of RS, in much of SC, in the south and southwest of PR, with a high risk of possible localized storms.

There is high risk of storms and heavy rain in the north and northwest of Rio Grande do Sul. In other areas of PR, rain is expected to arrive in the afternoon, including in Curitiba.

In addition, the winds are expected to remain quite strong on the northern coast of Rio Grande do Sul and the southern coast of Santa Catarina, with gusts that could reach up to 90 km/h during the day. This scenario of strong winds also contributes to keeping the sea rough, said Climatempo.

Central-West Region

Some instability is expected to advance over the south-central region of MS between the end of the morning and the afternoon of this Friday (20). The forecast is for frequent rain and the possibility of occasional storms in the south of MS.

In other regions of MS, MT, GO and DF, dry air continues to predominate, with high temperatures and low air humidity. Humidity should reach alert levels throughout DF, GO, northeast MS and east MT.

In addition to the dryness, gusts of wind in much of the region increase the risk of fires spreading. Gusts of up to 90 km/h can be recorded throughout the day in the southwest of MS.

Northeast Region

The circulation of sea winds should continue to stimulate the formation of rain clouds over the coast of Bahia, between Aracaju (SE) and João Pessoa (PB), this Friday (20).

The forecast is that in the other areas of the backlands, sertão and north coast, the predominance of stable weather and high temperatures will be expected. Relative humidity can reach critical levels during the hottest hours.

In addition, winds may gain strength over the northern coast of the Northeast, with gusts that can reach up to 70 km/h.

Northern Region

The North Region is expected to experience instability, favoring conditions for rain showers in the west and south of Amazonas, north of Roraima, in Acre and north-central Rondônia, with conditions for isolated showers gaining strength in the afternoon of this Friday (20).

In other regions, dry weather and very high temperatures should continue to predominate, with humidity levels at alert levels throughout Tocantins and in southeastern Pará. This condition favors the spread of fire outbreaks..
