Actor Kayky Brito, hit by a car early on Saturday (2), is sedated and breathing with the help of machines at the Copa Star hospital, in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro.
The actor’s sister, actress Sthefany Brito, said that Kayky has polytrauma. His health status is considered serious. The hospital said he will remain under ICU care.
Kayky was initially rescued at the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, in Leblon, in the south zone of the city, and later transferred to Copa Star, in Copacabana.
The accident
In an interview with CNN the delegate of the 16th Police Station of Rio de Janeiro, Ângelo Lages, explained that the actor was at Quiosque Dona Maria, at post 6, on Barra beach, with actor Bruno De Luca and other friends.
Kayky went to get some belongings in his car and, on returning to the kiosk, he was run over on Avenida Lucio Costa, at number 4700, at 1:08 in the morning.
According to Lages, the car, a Fiat Argo, belonged to an app driver who took a passenger, with a baby, from Recreio dos Bandeirantes to Barra da Tijuca. The driver even tried to divert to the right lane, but was unable to avoid the actor.
The police requested expertise from the site and are trying to find out if the driver was traveling at a speed higher than the speed allowed for the stretch.
The State Secretariat of Military Police reported that police officers from the 31st BPM responded to the incident. The case was registered in the 16th PD as culpable bodily injury, when there is no intention.
“The driver was taken to the 16th DP and to the IML to carry out a blood alcohol test, which was negative for drinking alcohol,” the PM said in a note.

In the same post, the singer and ex-BBB Gabi Martins also commented: “It all worked out ❤️🙏🏻🥺”.
And actor Eri Johnson added: “Praying for you my “tax”❤️🙌”
Actor Bruno De Lucas, who was at the kiosk when Kayky was run over, asked his friend for prayers, and said he is “sad and shaken”.
“I am very sad and shaken by what happened, apprehensive, but with faith that God will intercede for my brother. I want to ask Kayky for a prayer chain, so he can get out of this as soon as possible”, said Bruno on his Instagram.
