Google is preparing a couple of new features for Google Messages, the basic messaging app for Android smartphones.
Enthusiasts from the XDA Developers community of mobile developers have discovered evidence of upcoming innovations in the application code.
First, it’s about supporting sticky conversations. The function will allow to pin up to three (the number may vary) conversations at the top of the chat list for quick access. Users no longer have to burn calories by scrolling through the list to find their favorite chats.
The second innovation is messages marked with an asterisk, which allows you to bookmark messages in a conversation. These messages will become available through the search bar and, possibly, in a special section in the additional menu. In addition, flagged messages will receive an asterisk icon for quicker identification.
These functions are not yet available to ordinary users, and it is not yet possible to say with certainty when they will appear. But after the release, the Google Messages app will be a little closer to the functionality that popular messengers such as WhatsApp and Telegram have been offering for a long time.
