White House speaks out on Parkinson’s expert’s meeting with Biden’s doctor

A meeting between a neurological specialist and Joe Biden’s doctor in January was unrelated to the president’s care, the White House said Tuesday (9).

Experts Kevin Cannard and Kevin O’Connor met at the White House on Jan. 17, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

“Can you say whether that meeting was related to the care of the president himself?” a reporter asked during the press conference.

“I can say no,” Jean-Pierre stressed.

Cannard visited the White House eight times last year, according to visitor logs. Three of those visits occurred in 2024: the Jan. 17 meeting with O’Connor and meetings with another official on Jan. 26 and March 28.

The professional is a neurologist at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, as well as a leading specialist in Parkinson’s disease.

The president’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, took an unusual step Monday night (8) by releasing a letter with some details about Cannard’s visits to the White House, after days of speculation about the president’s health.

He wrote that “President Biden has not seen a neurologist beyond his annual physical.”
