A new part of Willy Wonka’s story was revealed in cinemas this year in “Wonka” . The film shows the beginning of the professional career of the character of “The fantastic chocolate factory” work of Roald Dahl which has already been adapted for the big screen twice.
The plot starring Timothée Chalamet takes place 25 years before the events of the films starring Gene Wilder (1971) and Johnny Depp (2005) – that is, between the end of “Wonka” and the beginning of “The fantastic chocolate factory” there is still a lot to tell.
Will “Wonka” have a sequel?
Even before the premiere, the director Paul King had already signaled interest in a sequel to “Wonka” .
In an interview with the British magazine “TotalFilm”, he stated that he would like more films from this universe.
“I would definitely like to do more. And I would like to spend more time in this world and meet some more Umpa-Lumpas. There are drafts that weren’t used anywhere, and on top of that, there’s a short story too,” she said.
“He [Roald Dahl, criador do personagem] didn’t really write sequels, but this was the one book where he clearly felt there was more to deliver. There’s a lot more Wonka story we have that we’d like to tell,” he added.
However, there is no confirmation or anything that indicates a sequence for “Wonka” .
