The new fad started with a video posted on TikTok by actress and comedian Vivy Lin, who, while holding a pineapple, said: “Flirting time at Mercadona is from 7pm. until 8 p.m.’ So hundreds of single Spaniards started showing up at supermarkets, clutching a pineapple and strolling down the aisles. In fact, some walked down the liquor aisle, hoping to arrange a romantic date.
