President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) should meet this Monday, the 16th, with the Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho, at the Planalto Palace.
The appointment, scheduled for 3 pm, occurs at a time when the government is discussing what it will do with the minimum wage – whether or not it will be readjusted from R$1,302 to R$1,320. Lula’s agenda, released earlier this Sunday, the 15th, also provides for the participation of the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, in the meeting.
Haddad, however, should not be in Brasilia. He is expected to leave for the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland, on Sunday night.
Last Thursday, the 12th, when asked about the matter, Haddad said that the government is still analyzing what decision it will take on the readjustment of the minimum wage. He explained that the line destined to increase the value, of R$ 6.8 billion, has already been consumed by the acceleration of the INSS queue.
The minister also commented that Marinho would open a negotiation table with the union centrals to evaluate the theme “properly”.
Lula’s agenda also foresees the visit of the president to the inauguration of Tarciana Medeiros as president of Banco do Brasil, at 6 pm, in addition to other meetings with ministers. At 9 am, he will meet the minister of the Institutional Relations Secretariat, Alexandre Padilha, and the minister of the Social Communication Secretariat, Paulo Pimenta, at the Planalto.
At 9:30 am the meeting will be with the ministers of the Civil House, Rui Costa, of the General Secretariat, Márcio Macedo, again Padilha and Pimenta, in addition to Haddad and the head of the personal office of the President of the Republic, Marco Aurélio Marcola.
