Without waiting for the release of Android 12: Google has already declassified the sweet name of Android 13

Google has not yet released a stable version of the Android 12 operating system for ordinary users, but is already preparing a new OS in 2022 – Android 13.

Without waiting for the release of Android 12: Google has already declassified the sweet name of Android 13

The development of such large releases is always carried out strongly in advance and it is not surprising that enthusiasts are able to find “evidence” a year before the release of Android 13.

This time, enthusiasts have found a new document in the Gerrit AOSP (Android Open Source Project) code repository, which states that Google has decided to name the version of Android 13 T Tiramisu.

This is the first mention of the internal codename for the next version of Android. To be clear, the next version of Android will be publicly referred to as simply Android 13, without adding a “sweet” name. This tactic has been supported by Google since the release of Android 10. However, the tradition of “dessert” names for Android has been supported for many years and having abandoned it publicly, Google continues to use “sweet” names for internal tasks.

Until now, the following desserts have been used for Android internal or public titles:

  • Android 1.5: Cupcake
  • Android 1.6: Donut
  • Android 2.0: Eclair (эклер)
  • Android 2.2: Froyo (frozen yogurt)
  • Android 2.3: Gingerbread (gingerbread)
  • Android 3.0: Honeycomb
  • Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Android 4.1: Jelly Bean
  • Android 4.4: KitKat (KitKat chocolate bar)
  • Android 5.0: Lollipop (lollipop)
  • Android 6.0: Marshmallow (sapphire)
  • Android 7.0: Nougat
  • Android 8.0: Oreo (Oreo sandwich cookie)
  • Android 9: Pie (pie)
  • Android 10: Quince Tart (kind of sweet pie)
  • Android 11: Red Velvet Cake
  • Android 12: Snow Cone
  • Android 13: Tiramisu
