Woman is thrown from a toy at an amusement park in PE and is in serious condition

A woman was seriously injured after being thrown from a toy at an amusement park in Recife (PE), this Friday afternoon (22).

The accident occurred at the Wave Swinger toy, similar to a Mexican hat, where people spin at high speed in chairs suspended by wires.

According to Samu, the woman was taken to Hospital da Restauração with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) and possible fracture of the upper limbs.

A CNN a person who was in the park at the time of the incident stated that he had given up going on the ride shortly before the episode.

“At the time, my wife and I were filming the toy from outside. As it started to spin, shortly after, we heard a noise, but we didn’t understand what it was. Afterwards, we saw the girl on the floor in agony, with exposed wounds and bleeding profusely”, said the individual, who did not want to be identified.

Hospital da Restauração reported that the woman also had fractures to her body and was hospitalized in serious condition.

In a statement, Mirabilandia park regretted the accident and said it had suspended activities on the ride to review the equipment.

“Mirabilandia Park regrets the accident that occurred on Friday afternoon and has preventively suspended the activities of the Wave Swinger attraction for a complete review of the equipment, which undergoes periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.

A user who was on the toy received immediate care after the accident that caused a fall, and was supported by the team on duty and taken to the hospital, where she is receiving full assistance.

The causes of the accident are being investigated by a qualified technical team and the park is available to the authorities for any clarifications.”
