Finding a job is more difficult for a woman than for her male counterpart. This is revealed by theObservatory on the labor market in administration conducted by Jobtech, Italian agency for digital work, which conducted an analysis on a sample of 60 thousand users of the agency’s portals, from January to June 2021.
In the first half of the year they were more women than men looking for a new job: on the total, 58%, against 42% of the male team. Most penalized during the pandemic (of the 444 thousand fewer employed persons registered in Italy in 2020, according to Istat data, 70% were women), they needed to look for a new job more than men during the first half of the year.
Moreover, women are also on average more qualified than men, if the educational qualification is taken into account: 22.7% of women obtained at least a three-year degree, against 16.2% of men; 63.5% of them have a diploma, against 58.5% of men. The level of experience, on the other hand, is not so different between men and women: on average, those looking for a job today have 4 and a half years of experience, in one or more work sectors.
Almost half (46%) of job seekers today are un millennial, followed by the ‘generation z’ (28%). There are also the over 40s (22%) and the “baby boomers”, who represent 4% of the total.
AND Lombardy is the region where the most questions come from of work: 25.04% of those who looked for work, through the network, in the first half of 2021, reside in this region. But, if the number of applications is compared to that of residents, it turns out that the most active regions in the search for work in recent months have been Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Those in which work was least sought through online channels were Calabria, Sicily and Campania.
