Worker killed after flood-damaged school roof collapses in Valencia

A worker was killed and a second injured today in the Valencia region while working on a school damaged by the deadly floods of October 29. The worker, aged 51, died “during work on the building”, a public school in the community of Masanassa, in the southern suburbs of Valencia, prefect Pilar Bernabé told reporters. Another man, aged 34, was injured and taken to hospital for treatment. According to the authorities, many soldiers of the Military Emergency Unit, which is mobilized in cases of natural disasters, were inside the building when its roof collapsed at noon. Everyone managed to get out of the building safely. The president of the district, Carlos Mathon, called an emergency meeting. He said the two workers were employees of Tragsa, a company specializing in public works and building maintenance.
