Xiaomi has become the leading manufacturer of 5G Android smartphones in the world

The Chinese company Xiaomi has bragged about its latest achievement on social media. It has managed to become the leading manufacturer of 5G smartphones in the global Android market, overtaking rivals such as Samsung and OPPO.

Citing data from analysts at research firm Strategy Analytics, Xiaomi announced that its brand was ranked number one in the global market among manufacturers of 5G Android smartphones. According to the results of the second quarter of 2021, Xiaomi’s market share was 25.7%. During the reporting period, the Chinese manufacturer shipped a total of 24 million smartphones with support for fifth generation cellular networks under the Mi and Redmi brands.

The second largest manufacturer of 5G smartphones with Android on board was the Chinese company Vivo, which now owns about 18.5% of the global market. OPPO ranks third with a market share of 17.9%. As for the Korean brand Samsung, despite the fact that it was the first to launch 5G devices and delivered an impressive 77 million 5G smartphones worldwide in the previous quarters, it was able to get only the fourth place in the last quarter. Samsung’s share is estimated at around 16.7%. Another Chinese brand closes the top five leaders of the global 5G market. It’s about Realme, which owns 5.9% of the global market.
