Writing an email is not as simple as it seems, because if you write the wrong word and click “Send”, many things can go wrong and the worst of all is that, once sent, there is no option to delete it, the person will read it whether you like it or not.
Fortunately, only companies use emails, you know, to deal with business matters. However, for the owner of this store it was not so easy to send it, as he made a terrible mistake. Not only did the recipient misspelled, he also used very offensive words, calling a 21-year-old girl “not so pretty.”
This girl got an email from her prospective boss
Through her TikTok account, a girl named Gracie Lorincz, from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, appealed to the vice president of a boutique local where she had applied for a job after the guy “accidentally” sent her an email calling her “not so cute.”
Gracie recently graduated, so she applied for a job as a brand representative at Ava Lane Boutique, a popular clothing store in Michigan. He was supposed to receive an email response. However, what they sent her was far from what she expected.
The owners of the company said that “it was not so pretty”
The email read:
This girl just got out of college (Hope College) and she’s not that cute. She applied for the sales model position. Are you sure you want me to interview her?
The part where they doubted her beauty was inappropriate and hurtful to Gracie, as the comment was made by the vice president of operations and the husband of the boutique owner, Chuck DeGrendel, but the email was intended for his wife Laura, the owner of the company. Yet somehow the mail got to her by mistake.
According to Gracie, it is these kinds of comments that do not conform to the company’s belief that girls should be “self-confident.”
Gracie went viral on social media
The girl posted a letter on her TikTok account and 1.3 million people were there to endorse and support her. There he said that his intention with the video was simply to report bad behavior and encourage people to defend themselves. Furthermore, he added:
I do not want to prolong the events, I just want to turn this situation into something positive.
The store owners publicly apologized
In response to Gracie’s video, Chuck and Laura posted a video on Facebook and both apologized for their inappropriate words. He said:
I didn’t feel like she was that cute. So I didn’t know if I wanted to continue with an interview. I don’t know why I said that, but I did, and I’m very sorry I said that.
Both Chuck and Laura were shocked by the situation and tearfully apologized and said they were convinced the threatening comments they received were not promoted by Gracie.
I’m pretty sure the girl didn’t ask her followers to contact us to threaten our family or the people who work here. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t his intention, but that’s what happened.
Although many companies have rules that they must follow, the truth is that no owner or boss has the right to judge a person by their appearance and that this is a condition for obtaining employment.
