2023 will be the year of “victory” in the war against Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this evening in his New Year’s message.
“Are you longing for faith and hope? These have been in the (Ukrainian) armed forces for a long time (…) Longing for light? This is inside all of us, even when there is no electricity,” the supply of which has been severely disrupted by massive Russian bombing, Zelensky told Telegram.
“Happy New Year! The year of our victory”, he concluded, calling on his countrymen to “work”, to “fight” and “help each other”.
In his own video New Year’s message earlier today Russian President Vladimir Putin has said his country will never succumb to Western attempts to use Ukraine as a means to destroy Russia and that his country is fighting in Ukraine to protect the “homeland” and to ensure “true independence” for its people.
