Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday welcomed the “personal role” of US President Joe Biden in his quest for peace in eastern Ukraine, in his first remarks since US President Bidolin’s talks with Russian President Biden.
During a press conference, Zelensky also expressed hope that Ukraine and Russia could agree on a new ceasefire and the exchange of detainees, as their representatives began talks today on the conflict in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine.
“In general, I welcome the fact that the President of the United States spoke with the President of the Russian Federation,” Zelensky said.
“The most important thing we are seeing now is that there is a real personal reaction and a personal role for President Biden in resolving this conflict, the war, in the eastern part of our country,” Zelensky said.
