The new generation Ryzen Threadripper processor has been on the web for the first time. The Threadripper Pro 5975WX model with 32 cores made it to Geekbench, so we can also evaluate the performance.
The CPU operates at frequencies of 3.6-4.5 GHz. In the test, it scored 1686 points in single-threaded mode and 27,603 points in multi-threaded mode. For comparison, the current 32-core Threadripper 3970X scores about 1250 and 22,400 points, respectively. That is, the new product is about 34% faster and 23% faster, depending on the mode, and this correlates well with the gain that the Zen 3 architecture should provide relative to Zen 2.
Unfortunately, the latest rumors suggest that the regular Ryzen Threadripper 5000 processors will not hit the market, and only the Threadripper Pro will be available. The latter, we recall, are distinguished, among other things, by the presence of an eight-channel memory controller.
