Today, August 17, Alienware (a subsidiary of Dell) officially introduced the world to two new gaming monitors at once – we are talking about the base model with a diagonal of 25 inches and a refresh rate of 360 Hz and a more advanced version with a diagonal of 27 inches and a frequency of 280 Hz. It is worth saying that both monitors are made in the same design, but in different colors, they look quite compact due to the relatively thin bezels around the display and come with a very useful feature – a special headset holder. It is very convenient if the user plays with impressive peripherals and at the end of the game session does not know what to do with it.
The youngest model in the line, in fact, in terms of design, does not scream at all that this is gaming equipment – the monitor body is made of matte black plastic with a glossy Alienware logo and the inscription “25” on the back panel. This inscription is not highlighted, while on the older model, which has the inscription “27” on the back, there is a backlight. At the same time, the 25-inch monitor will be equipped with a Full HD IPS screen, Vesa AdaptiveSync certified, HDR10 support and sRGB color coverage of 99%. The older panel, of course, has a much more impressive set of characteristics, so the user receives a whole set of different bonuses specifically for video games.
For example, the 27-inch monitor received DisplayHDR 600 certification, as well as an optional Creator Mode. When activated, the user gets coverage in 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and full coverage of the sRGB palette. This will be useful if the user decides to edit videos with accurate color reproduction or process photos in between gaming sessions. Unfortunately, here is an IPS-matrix with a refresh rate of only (if I may say so, of course) 240 Hz, plus there is support for NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technologies (the younger model has only AMD FreeSync Premium Pro).
Among the interesting features of the product, it is worth highlighting the presence of a USB Type-C port, which allows you to connect laptops directly to the monitor without additional adapters and power cables. Great news for those who not only play, but also work. However, the price for such pleasure turned out to be quite high – which is not surprising. For a base 25-inch model, the manufacturer will ask $450 from September 7, while a 27-inch monitor will cost a potential buyer $650.
