In both cases, the resolution is 50 megapixels and the manufacturer is the same – Sony, but the sensors themselves are different.
The Xiaomi 12 uses the IMX766 sensor – one of the most common sensors in mid to high end mobile devices. So, it is used in Vivo X70 Pro, Huawei Nova 9 Pro, Honor Magic 3 Pro, OnePlus Nord 2 and a number of other smartphones. Its optical format is 1 / 1.56 “, and Xiaomi points out that the sensor is larger than the iPhone 13. The Apple device uses a 1 / 1.88” sensor.
As for the Xiaomi 12 Pro, it received a Sony IMX707 sensor – a slightly improved version of the Sony IMX700. IMX700, in turn, is used in various Huawei flagships – Mate X2, P40 Pro, Honor 30 Pro. The optical format of this sensor is 1 / 1.28 inches, and it is obvious that in low light conditions it allows you to capture more light than the main Xiaomi 12 sensor.
