After almost three months, moving average of deaths by Covid passes 200 again

The moving average of deaths per Covid-19 which considers data from the last seven days, once again surpassed the 200 mark this Tuesday (28), and presents the highest index since April 1, according to data from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass ).

This Tuesday, the indicator reached 28. On April 1, the index was 205.

In the last 24 hours, the country recorded 316 new deaths, bringing the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 670,848.

In relation to cases, the moving average maintains an upward trend observed since the second half of June.

According to the update, 76,638 infections were recorded in the last period. The total is 32,206,954 coronavirus infections. The moving average of cases is 55,447.

Two children die a day from Covid-19 in Brazil

Covid-19 has killed two children under the age of five in Brazil per day since the beginning of the pandemic. In all, 1,439 children in this age group died from the disease in the first two years of the pandemic in the country.

This is what a survey carried out by Observa Infância shows in partnership with the Fiocruz, based on data collected in the Mortality Information System (SIM) of the Ministry of Health .

In 2020, there were 599 deaths of children up to five years old as a result of the disease. In 2021, when the lethality of the disease increased across the population, the number of child victims jumped to 840.

Preliminary data released by the Epidemiological Bulletin of the Ministry of Health indicate that the average of two daily deaths remains this year. Between January and June 13, 2022, Brazil recorded a total of 291 deaths among children under 5 years old.
