An invisible Gucci makeup

When Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s creative director, talks about make-up, he uses these words «I want to see the person and not hide him behind a mask, everyone must be himself and the make-up must only make you feel at your best». This is what the make-up artist of the Gucci Beauty maison, Thomas de Kluyver, the makeup rebel, revealed, who gave a lesson to recreate that invisible make-up that is the brand’s signature. Because the concept behind the make-up is that it is a way to accessorise the dress, and also «those who are beginners can try and dare» because the Gucci code is to «work with different parts of one’s identity without being afraid, looking for the colors that the more they love each other and with whom it connects, whether bold or even softer than you expect ».

CREATING THE BASE
«To neutralize too pink skin, it is better to use warm colors, this is an important rule. The primers and foundations can be applied with your fingers or a sponge, mixing the product well with water. The primer goes to the center of the face with soft and gentle touches because I believe that the make-up should be treated like a paint that is used to create a painting. You have to give yourself time to get to a very thin layer and create a light coverage, with a blurring effect and soft focus, the make-up must be layered slowly ».

DEFINE EYEBROWS
«The eyebrows should always be combed and then with a pencil of the closest color to the natural one draws only small hairs, tone on tone. If you want you can tame the color a little and then use a toothbrush to dilute it after drawing the eyebrows. The technique I use to ensure they are in harmony with the face is by taking the measurements with a pencil, starting from the side of the nostril, placing it perpendicular, then turning it slightly, in an oblique position, to make it pass in the middle of the eye. «The final glow is created with a face gloss for use on eyes and lips. It goes on the eyelid only in the central part to create a slight glow, a look that I define as high fashion, and then the same dewy effect must be created on the skin and only on the cheeks. Maybe just a touch on the lipstick. The gloss can also be mixed with lipstick and eyeshadow for a brighter finish. When the skin is oily it is better not to use it on the face and apply it only on the lips and eyelids ».
