While Intel is just about to return to the discrete graphics market with its Arc line, the Chinese company Innoslicon has already done so. It presented on the home market ready-made solutions based on its own GPU, and these solutions are quite gaming, since compatibility with all major APIs is declared – OpenGL, OpenGL ES, OpenCL, Vulkan and DirectX. True, the version of DirectX is not reported.
At the official event, Innoslicon presented a total of four products (video cards), all based on the Fantasy One GPU. Moreover, there are video cards with one such GPU, and with two.
Thus, the Type A 3D card, designed for both user PCs and workstations, is based on a single GPU with a performance of 5 TFLOPS. The video card is equipped with DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 and, interestingly, D-Sub video outputs. In a configuration of 16 GB of GDDR6X memory with … 128-bit bus. Moreover, the memory operates at a frequency of 19 GHz. Until recently, GDDR6X was exclusive to Nvidia Ampere video cards, but now it is registered in Chinese video cards as well. True, it is impossible to use it to the full because of the narrow bus, as a result, the maximum memory bandwidth is only 304 GB / s, that is, no more than the Radeon RX 6700 XT.
Innosilicon Fantasy One Type A is presented in two versions: in the usual two-slot version with two fans and in a stripped-down single-slot version with one centrifugal fan, it has less memory.
Fantasy One Type B with three fans (as well as in the version with a completely passive cooling system!) Is more interesting, since there are already two GPUs interconnected by the Innolink bus. Accordingly, the performance here is twice as high as that of a single-processor video card – 10 TFLOPS, and GDDR6X memory is twice as large – 32 GB. At the same time, the width of the memory bus has not changed – all the same 128 bits. Both lines, and Type A, and Type B, are designed for connection to the PCI-Express 4.0 x16 slot.
During the event, the video cards were tested with the Unigine Heaven benchmark, but, alas, there were no results. The company has already announced work on the next generation GPUs – Fantasy 2 and Fantasy 3, and they will be presented next year. These GPUs will be manufactured using the 5nm process technology. The GPU Fantasy One process technology has yet to be confirmed.
