Anne Heche remains in critical condition after car accident; police investigate the case

American actress Anne Heche has remained in critical condition since crashing her car at a Los Angeles home on Friday, according to a new rep for the actress.

“Over the weekend, a representative stated that Anne was in stable condition, but that information was inaccurate. She always remained in a critical condition, slipping into a coma after the accident,” a spokesperson for Heche told CNN, in a statement, this Monday (8).

“She has significant lung injury that requires mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention. She is currently being treated at the Grossman Burn Center,” she said.

Earlier on Monday, the CNN reported that Heche is under investigation for misdemeanor, hit-and-run, according to Los Angeles Police Department official Annie Hernandez.

Investigators obtained a warrant for a blood draw on the day of the incident. They are still awaiting those results, Hernandez said. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office, Hernandez added.

Heche’s representative told CNN that she has not yet been able to meet with investigators because of her health condition.

Meanwhile, friends of the woman whose home was destroyed in the accident say she “narrowly escaped physical harm”.

Lynne Mishele was inside her home when Heche’s car broke into and the fire broke out, officials told CNN . Neighbors John and Jennifer Durand started a “virtual crowdfunding” for Mishele to help her rebuild her life.

In their description of the fundraiser, the Durands claim that Mishele lost everything except “a few sentimental belongings, which were damaged.”

“Lynne lives with her puppies Bree and Rueban, and Marley the turtle at the Mar Vista home that was destroyed this week by a speeding car, causing the house to catch fire,” the fundraiser says. .

“Lynne and her family narrowly escaped physical harm, and for that we are very, very grateful. The house, however, was burned to the ground.”

Roy Morgen, another of Mishele’s neighbors, told the CNN KCAL/KCBS that Heche’s car stopped about “six meters from where she was sitting.”

“She was very lucky,” Morgen said of Mishele. “She’s in shock… it hasn’t sunk in yet. There was nothing left in the house. Everything was ruined.”

“Lynne has lost her entire life of possessions, souvenirs, all equipment for her business,” states the fundraiser website. “With the help of firefighters, she managed to remove some sentimental belongings from the wreckage. Everything else disappeared.”

THE CNN contacted Mishele and the Durands for comment.
