The new recommendation, as pointed out by AMPE, follows the publication of a large survey by Scotland, which showed a significant reduction in the risk of developing a serious illness from COVID-19 in all age groups after administration of this vaccine, according to the Danish Health Service.
Most seniors in Scotland have been vaccinated with the AstraZeneca / Oxford University vaccine, the agency added.
When the vaccine was approved for use by the EU regulator earlier this year, many European bloc member states, including France, Germany and Italy, announced that should not be given to the elderly, citing a lack of adequate information.
