The president of the USA Joe Biden indirectly urged them Israeli armed forces (IDF) to ensure the protection of Al Shifa hospital, the largest in Gaza, amid reports of escalating clashes in the area.
“My hope and expectation is that there will be less intervention in the hospital area”the US president told reporters when asked if he had raised concerns about the issue with the Israeli government.
“The hospital must be protected“, he emphasized.
For its part, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said today that Israel shares the White House’s view that fighting near Gaza hospitals should be avoided.
He also noted that the Israeli government has assured that it is ready to provide fuel to hospitals in order to ensure their operation.
