Two-day pan-American poll shows Biden’s approval rating still close at the lowest level of his presidency. Biden’s overall negative popularity trend was judged by Democrats in the Nov. 8 midterm elections, when Republicans narrowly won a majority in the House of Representatives.
The 80-year-old Biden has stated that he intends to run for re-election in 2024while he is likely to make a final decision early next year, after discussing it with his family. His political outlook was boosted by the midterm elections, when the Democrats, while losing the majority in the House of Representatives had a better result than expected.
78% of Democrats in the poll said they approve of Biden’s job in the White House, up from 73% in the previous poll. President Biden’s approval rating among Republicans was recorded at 9%.
At the lowest levels in May and June
Biden took office in January 2021 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, while his presence in White House was marred by the economic impact caused by the global health crisis, including rising inflation. This year, his approval rating was at its lowest (36%) in May and June.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online in English and pan-American with 1,005 adults, including 453 Democrats and 365 Republicans. The margin of statistical error was determined to be 4 percentage points.
