Bitcoin and Ethereum prices rise to yearly highs

On the night of December 6, the Bitcoin (BTC) rate surpassed $44 thousand and immediately reached $44,480, having risen in price by 4.5% overnight and updating the previously set annual maximum. The last time Bitcoin traded above $44,000 was in April 2022. As of 10:45 Moscow time, the cost of the first cryptocurrency is $43,630 on the Binance exchange, writes RBC Crypto.

The second largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum (ETH), also updated its annual high, rising in price by almost 2%, to $2,313. The price of ETH exceeded the $2300 level for the first time since May 2022. The growth leader among the top ten largest cryptocurrencies is Dogecoin (DOGE), which has risen in price by 12.2% over the past 24 hours. It is followed by Solana (SOL) – by 6%, Cardano (ADA) – by 5.4%.

Avalanche (AVAX) surpassed Tron (TRX) and Chainlink (LINK) coins in terms of capitalization and took tenth place in the Coinmarketcap rating, adding about 15% per day. AVAX is trading at $25.8 with a capitalization of more than $9.4 billion. The maximum coin price at the market peak in 2021 was $134.

The amount of liquidations of margin positions of traders on large cryptocurrency exchanges due to volatility in the market over the past 24 hours exceeded $277 million. Including, according to Coinglass, more than 90 thousand orders worth over $116 million for Bitcoin (BTC) and more than $38 million for Ethereum (ETH) were forcibly closed. The largest single forced closure, worth $8.86 million, occurred on the OKX exchange in the BTC/USDT pair.
