President Jair Bolsonaro said this Saturday (28) that he is monitoring the situation of the rains in Greater Recife and other parts of the Northeast and reinforced the actions taken by the federal government to help victims.
“We are attentive to the heavy rains that hit Pernambuco and other states in our Northeast. I ordered the Ministry of Regional Development to continuously monitor the situation, sending teams to provide the necessary assistance to local authorities in helping the affected regions,” he said in a Twitter post.
Bolsonaro also stated that the government found a federal emergency in 13 municipalities, after an overflight in affected areas in the state of Alagoas.
The immediate release of R$ 2.5 million was also authorized for relief actions and humanitarian assistance in the two cities in more critical situations.

“We also mobilized our Armed Forces, Defense and the Ministry of Citizenship for the displacement of teams to Greater Recife to assist in relief operations and provide all the necessary assistance to the affected families”, reinforced the president.
“Our deepest condolences and solidarity to the victims of this sad disaster, as well as the families whose possessions were destroyed by the rains. It’s a difficult time for everyone. We will do what we can to ease this pain. God bless you all!” he added.
