The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson will hold a press conference later Monday on the reopening of the restrictions by covid, reported Nadine Dorries, a member of the British Parliament, according to Reuters.

Boris Johnson is expected to make a statement on how the country will move to the next phase of reopening since the COVID-19 lockdown.

With about a third of the UK adult population fully vaccinated and a continuing drop in new infections, the economic recovery looks solid.

GBP / USD reaction

The next phase of Covid reopening in the UK is likely to further boost sentiment around the pound.

The GBP/USD has risen about 30 pips after the announcement, rising to 1.4071, its highest level in the last two and a half months, specifically since last February 25. At time of writing, the pair is trading above 1.4063, gaining 0.58% daily.
