This Thursday (10th), Braskem announced an investment in the construction of a new renewable innovation center located in the city of Lexington, Massachusetts, in the United States.
With 3,252 m², the space aims to innovate in the segment of renewable chemicals and sustainable materials. The investment projection is around US$ 20 million.
The center aims to convert biomass-based raw materials — sugars, cellulose, vegetable oils and lignin — into sustainable chemicals and materials. Thus, Braskem plans to drive the discovery of technologies in line with the commitment to a carbon-neutral circular economy.
“Braskem intends to invest approximately US$ 20 million to build the renewable innovation center and will continue to invest in the development and retention of a world-class innovation team based in the Boston metropolitan area,” said Braskem America’s CEO. , Mark Nikolich.
The initial design and construction phase is already underway, and the company expects the project to be completed in the second half of 2023, after obtaining final validation and commissioning.
