Britney Spears testifies before the court and confesses the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father

Britney Spears was only 16 when she released her first single Baby One More Time in 1998. It topped the global charts and became one of the most famous songs in the world with over 10 million copies sold.

More than two decades later, the pop princess spoke before the short to try to regain control of her own life after her father, James Spears, took power over her career, finances and even her personal life for 13 years.

Britney’s hearing took place yesterday in the city of Los Angeles. It was the first time that, in her own words, the artist was able to speak about her father’s controversial legal guardianship.

I just want my life back. It has been 13 years and it is enough.

I have lied and told everyone that I am fine, that I am happy. I’ve been in denial, I’ve been in shock I am traumatized. I’m not happy, I can’t sleep, I’m so angry. And I’m depressed, I cry every day.

This conservatorship does me more harm than good. I deserve to have a life.

The interpreter of Toxic She talked about wanting to marry her boyfriend and have another baby, but that her father’s legal guardianship does not allow her to do so. In addition, Britney assured that the conservatorship has refused to remove the intrauterine device, IUD, to get pregnant.

I feel tied down, I feel abused, excluded and alone. I deserve to have the same rights as anyone else, I deserve to have children, family and all those things.

Britney stated that she was forced to go on tour by her administrators. In addition, she said that she tried to refuse residency in Las Vegas, that her therapist was misled into believing that she was not taking her medications and was refusing to cooperate.

She also added that she was forced to take lithium, a drug known to treat bipolar disorder, although she refused on different occasions. According to her own words, the drug made her feel disoriented and prevented her from speaking coherently.

The reaction of the general public, her loyal followers and a hundred celebrities, including Mariah Carey, Rose McGowan and Justin Timberlake, has been in favor of Britney, calling for a definitive end to the inhuman treatment that has been had to live.

Sam Asghari, Britney’s current boyfriend, posted a photo on Instagram wearing a T-shirt with the caption “Free Britney,” the popular move that millions of fans around the world have promoted to free the singer from controversial tutelage.

After his testimony, the judge informed Britney’s lawyers that they can request a formal petition to end the conservatorship, while James Spears’s lawyer stated that his client feels sorry to see his daughter suffer and hopes to meet with her soon.
