German Foreign Minister Alena Berbock said on Wednesday that after delays in deliveries, further supplies of Strela missiles, which were in the reserves of the former East German army, were headed to Ukraine, Reuters reported.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has prompted Germany to make a historic shift in its policy of not sending weapons to conflict zones, but the Ukrainian government has been disappointed by the delays.
“I can clearly say that there will be further deliveries of Strela missiles,” Burbock told the Bundestag.
“We are one of the largest arms suppliers in this situation, this does not make us proud, but it is what we need to do to help Ukraine,” he added.
She also said that the first flight that will transport Ukrainian refugees from Moldova to Germany will take place on Friday or Saturday.
