The president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, begins this Monday (9) his mandate as president of the Consultative Council of the Americas (CCA) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).
The BIS is considered the “central bank of central banks”, and its Advisory Board of the Americas is made up of the presidents of the central banks of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, the United States, Mexico and Peru.
Campos Neto will replace John Williams, president of the Federal Reserve (Fed, the US central bank) in New York, and will have a two-year term.
Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, the BIS has among its attributions to promote discussions and facilitate collaboration between central banks, in addition to supporting the dialogue with other authorities responsible for promoting financial stability.
It is also among the bank’s attributions to conduct research on policies in the interest of central banks, being the first counterparty for central banks in their financial transactions.
