Chris Brown has apologized for an online outburst after he lost the Grammy for best R&B album to pianist Robert Glasper.
The singer sent Glasper a direct message and posted it on Instagram, writing: “Congratulations my brother… I would like to apologize if you were offended by my reaction at the Grammys. You were not the intended target and I know I was very rude and mean.”
He continued, “After doing my research, I truly think you are amazing…the organization is not giving us Black people our due diligence. You and I were never supposed to be in the same category… two totally different vibes and genres. So, one black man to another, congratulations. I hope you are able to feed your family for a lifetime. God bless my G”.
The win was Glasper’s fifth. When he was nominated, Brown posted an Instagram story of Glasper, writing: “You guys are kidding. Who the hell is this? I’ll keep kicking your ass! Respectfully”.
Glasper responded on his own social media: “I have been informed that you have questions about Who is Robert Glasper! If you have questions, I have the answers. Check out my stories to play!”
Glasper will play Coachella with his supergroup Dinner Party.
