Hundreds of Cubans gathered on Sunday (5) on Havana's iconic Malecón to set the Guinness World Record for the most people dancing Rueda de Casino-style salsa to celebrate the music of National Son of Cuba Day.
They also wanted to break a second record: the number of Rueda de Casino style salsa circles dancing simultaneously.

Dancers filled the streets near the Malecón to perform for ten minutes while spectators watched.
Rueda de Casino is a style of salsa dancing in which couples form a circle and spin at the same time following patterns.
Luis Llamo, one of the organizers, said that the objective of the event is to establish centers of 'son', a genre of music and dance originating in Cuba, in all provinces and to defend Cuban cultural assets, such as son music and the round dance of the Casino.
