A seismic tremor of 4.9 on the Richter scale occurred at 04.40 in the morning in Cyprus and was particularly felt in many areas.
According to the Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of Cyprus, on Friday, June 10, 2022 and local time 04:40 an earthquake of magnitude M 4.9 on the Richter scale was recorded by the seismological network of the Department. The earthquake was centered in the sea area of Xylofagos, 20 km southwest of Paralimni and a focal depth of 45 km.
The earthquake was felt throughout Cyprus, especially in the epicenter and in the provinces of Larnaca and Famagusta. It was also perceived in Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Turkey. The phenomenon is monitored by the Seismological Center of the Geological Survey.
