Ahmed Mansour indicated on Wednesday that Egypt is ready to accept any number of wounded from Gaza if they manage to reach the Rafah crossing. Other hospitals in Egypt are also ready to receive wounded Palestinians, he added.
Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has already stressed that all wounded arriving in the country will receive treatment.
“We are already treating all medical cases passing through the Rafah crossing, but the Israeli side controls the numbers”had recently stated.
Since October 21, when the Rafah crossing opened, about 150 wounded people from the blockaded Palestinian enclave have entered Egypt, according to Egyptian figures. Among them are people with fractures, severe burns, injuries to internal organs and amputated limbs, Mansoor had explained.
The number of wounded transported to Egypt is negligible compared to the number of wounded in the Gaza Strip. Since the start of the war on October 7, 11,500 people have been killed in Gaza and another 29,000 have been injured, according to Hamas’ health ministry.
