The total construction activity in the whole country showed an increase in the first five months of the year, both in the number of building permits and in volume, despite the decrease recorded in May, according to the data announced by the Hellenic Statistical Authority.
In particular, the size of the Total Construction Activity (Private – Public), during the month of May 2022, throughout the country based on the issued building permits, amounted to 2,220 building permits, corresponding to 459,866 m2 of surface and 2,206,868 m3 of volume, that is, it showed a 0.4% decrease in the number of building permits, a 23.2% decrease in surface area and an 8.8% decrease in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2021.
The issued permits for Private Construction Activity, throughout the country, during the month of May 2022 amounted to 2,197 building permits, corresponding to 426,732 m2 of surface and 2,033,480 m3 of volume, showing a decrease of 0.6% in the number of building permits, a decrease by 28.3% in surface area and a decrease by 15.5% in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2021.
The issued Public Building Activity permits during the month of May 2022, throughout the country, amounted to 23 building permits, corresponding to 33,134 m2 of surface and 173,388 m3 of volume. The percentage of participation of the Public Construction Activity in the total building volume, for the month of May 2022, is 7.9%. K
In the five months January – May 2022, the Total Construction Activity shows, in the whole of the Country, an increase of 0.9% in the number of building permits, a decrease of 8.6% in the area and an increase of 1.6% in the volume, in relation to with the corresponding five months of the year 2021.
During the same period of January – May 2022, Private Construction Activity, throughout the country, shows an increase of 1.0% in the number of building permits, a decrease of 8.7% in surface area and an increase of 3.0% in volume, in relation to the period January – May 2021.
During the period of the last twelve months, i.e. from June 2021 to May 2022, the size of the Total Construction Activity (Private-Public) based on the issued building permits, throughout the country, amounted to 24,055 building permits, corresponding to 5,864,306 m2 of surface and 25,775,907 m3 of volume.
Compared to the corresponding period of June 2020 – May 2021, there was a 10.8% increase in the number of building permits, a 17.4% increase in surface area and a 23.0% increase in volume.
During the same time period, June 2021 – May 2022, the Private Construction Activity, in the whole country, shows an increase of 11.0% in the number of issued building permits, an increase of 18.5% in the area and an increase of 25.2 % in the volume, compared to the corresponding period of June 2020 – May 2021. The percentage of participation of the Public Construction Activity in the total building volume, for the above period, is 1.6%.
