The value of Greece’s imports from Russia in May 2022 increased by 94.7% compared to a year ago, after reaching 625.5 million euros from 321.2% million euros.
The value of Greece’s exports to Russia in May 2022 amounted to 5.5 million euros, marking a decrease of 56.9% compared to May 2021 which was 12.9 million euros. The trade balance between Greece and Russia in May 2022 was negative and amounted to 620.0 million euros.
In the period January-May 2022, the value of Greece’s imports from Russia amounted to 2,817.2 million euros, marking an increase of 117.6% compared to the period January-May 2021, which was 1,294.4 million euros.
The value of Greece’s exports to Russia in the period January-May 2022 amounted to 47.5 million euros, marking a decrease of 31.1% compared to the period January-May 2021 which was 69.0 million euros. The trade balance between Greece and Russia in the period January-May 2022 was negative and amounted to 2,769.7 million euros (deficit).
In the year 2021, 656 Greek companies imported from Russia and 639 Greek companies exported to Russia. The total value of Greece’s imports from Russia in the year 2021 amounted to 4,302.4 million euros, recording an increase of 46.7% compared to the corresponding total value for the year 2020 which was 2,933.5 million euros.
The total value of Greece’s exports to Russia in 2021 amounted to 206.6 million euros, recording an increase of 28.0% compared to the corresponding total value for the year 2020 which was 161.4 million euros (Table 3) . Greece’s trade balance with Russia in 2021 was negative and amounted to 4,095.8 million euros (deficit).

23.7% decrease in imports from Ukraine
In May 2022 the value of Greece’s imports from Ukraine amounted to 8.6 million euros, marking a decrease of 23.7% compared to May 2021 which was 11.2 million euros.
The value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine in May 2022 amounted to EUR 14.6 million, an increase of 46.1% compared to May 2021 which was EUR 10.0 million.
The trade balance of Greece-Ukraine in May 2022 was positive and amounted to 6.0 million euros.
In the period January-May 2022, the value of Greece’s imports from Ukraine amounted to 66.0 million euros, marking a decrease of 9.8% compared to the period January-May 2021, which was 73.1 million euros. The value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine in the period January-May 2022 amounted to 44.4 million euros, marking a decrease of 33.8% compared to the period January-May 2021 which was 67.0 million euros. The trade balance between Greece and Ukraine in the period January-May 2022 was negative and amounted to 21.6 million euros (deficit).
In the year 2021, 494 Greek companies imported from Ukraine and 581 Greek companies exported to Ukraine. The total value of Greece’s imports from Ukraine in the year 2021 amounted to 198.4 million euros, recording an increase of 10.8% compared to the corresponding total value for the year 2020 which was 179.0 million euros. The total value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine in the year 2021 amounted to 338.8 million euros, registering an increase of 74.9% compared to the corresponding total value for the year 2020 which was 193.7 million euros. The trade balance of Greece with Ukraine in the year 2021 was positive and amounted to 140.4 million euros (surplus).
