Investigators from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) are this Saturday morning (6) at the site of the air crash that killed singer Marília Mendonça on Friday afternoon (5).
“Researchers of the 3rd Regional Service for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA III) of the FAB carry out the initial action of the occurrence involving the PT-ONJ aircraft in which the singer Marília Mendonça and 4 other people were on board, in Caratinga/MG” , said the FAB through Twitter.
The team of the 3rd Regional Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Service (Seripa 3) left Rio de Janeiro this Saturday morning.
According to the FAB, Seripa 3 investigators will “identify evidence, photograph the scenes, remove parts of the aircraft for analysis, listen to witness reports, gather documents, etc. There is no scheduled time for this activity to occur, always depending on the complexity of the occurrence.”
Seripa 3 is the regional body of the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa). According to the press office, the experts will identify evidence, photograph the accident site, remove parts of the aircraft for analysis, listen to witness reports and gather documents.
The objective is to try to identify the factors that contributed to the crash of the aircraft of the company PEC Táxi Aéreo, from Goiás, with the prefix PT-ONJ, and to formulate recommendations on safety so that other similar accidents are avoided. “The purpose of the investigations carried out by CENIPA is to prevent new occurrences with similar characteristics from occurring,” said the FAB on Twitter.

Cenipa clarifies that the investigative work does not point to the culprits, the responsibility of the police authorities.
In addition to the 26-year-old singer Marília Mendonça, the uncle and advisor to artist Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho, producer Henrique Ribeiro, pilot Geraldo Martins de Medeiros and co-pilot Tarciso People Viana died.
The accident
The accident happened in Piedade de Caratinga, in Vale do Rio Doce, in the west of Minas Gerais. The plane crashed at a distance of three kilometers from the airport in Caratinga, the city where the singer would perform.
The aircraft fell into a watercourse near an access road on the BR-474 highway. Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig) reported that the plane hit a cable in a power distribution tower of the company in Caratinga.
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and the Civil Police of Minas Gerais are investigating the accident.
