The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) food price index had its fourth consecutive monthly decline. In the month of July, the fall was 8.6% in relation to the previous month.
The main price drops are in cereals and vegetable oils, according to FAO.
On the subject, the CNN Specialist in agribusiness Marcos Fava Neves stated that, with the drop in the price of oil and other essential products for agricultural production, food prices should also fall in Brazil.
“I believe that now, with the appreciation of the real, with the price of oil falling, cheaper diesel, cheaper fertilizers, cheaper pesticides and production coming in, we will also be able to start lowering food prices in Brazil”, stated the CNN Specialist .
