A majority of French people (59%) still believe that Emmanuel Macron cannot “effectively deal with the problems facing the country”, but the percentage of those who say they trust him (37%) is slightly higher than recently past. This is the conclusion of Elabe’s periodic poll for the financial newspaper LES ECHOS and Radio Classique, published today.
The same survey shows that Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne sees her trust rate increase slightly to 29% (+2 points), while for far-right Marine Le Pen more than one in three French people (34%) say they have a “positive picture”. This is the second highest percentage after April’s record (35%). “While she could have fallen after the presidential election, she is in a stabilization phase. Her relative popularity is entrenched and seems to last,” notes an Elabe analyst, according to which “Le Pen is slowly building something solid, beyond seasonal variations”.
