France: “Cuts out” disposable e-cigarettes to prevent young people from taking up smoking

The prohibition of electronic cigarettes disposable decided the authorities at France as part of a national plan to combat it smoking in the whole population, but especially in young people.

“The government will soon present a new national plan to combat smoking with, in particular, a ban on single-use e-cigarettes, the famous “puff” that cause bad habits in young people”announced the Prime Minister, Elizabeth Bourne.

Specifically, the 2024 budget will include a broader plan to reduce smoking, which according to Bourne is the cause of 75,000 deaths annually in the country.

The main concern about disposable e-cigarettes is that they have become a “gateway” to cigarette smoking. At the same time, due to the flavors they have (like bubblegum) they make the product more popular among teenagers who have not smoked cigarettes.

Many European countries are also considering banning single-use e-cigarettes.

It is noted that online sales of these electronic cigarettes have already been banned in Belgium. In Germany the government has banned flavored e-cigarettes.
